Licensed Natural Health Product Database Extract Files Are Now Available for Download

Dear Stakeholders,

The Natural Health Products Directorate (NHPD) is pleased to announce that the Licensed Natural Health Products Database (LNHPD) extract files are now available for downloading from Health Canada's website at: http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/dhp-mps/prodnatur/applications/licen-prod/lnhpd-bdpsnh_data_extract-eng.php.

These extract files contain published information on licensed natural health products, similar to the Drug Product Database (DPD) extracts provided by the Therapeutic Products Directorate. The LNHPD extract is one of the outcomes of a September 2009 meeting with the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) who, along with drug plan service vendors, require these data extractions to create comprehensive clinical databases.

Currently, the information is made available "as is" using the nomenclature for ingredients as it appears on the licence. The NHPD is currently working on the possibility to offer the information along with ingredient information standardized to the content of the Natural Health Products Ingredient database. We will keep you informed of the evolution of the extract files as it occurs.
